‘Girl, what? I’m not a daycare’: Mom dumps her 9 and 6-year-old at the neighbor’s house unannounced, expecting them to babysit for free because they have no kids and ‘no real responsibilities’

Moms and dads sometimes rely on their community to help raise their kids. Through neighborhood parks, friendly grannies own the street, and pop up lemonade stands, there are tons of ways to get your kiddo out into the community, but the mom in this next story had another idea about what her community could provide for her: Free childcare.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for community support and loving your neighbors, but there’s a line in the sand when it comes to cordial neighborly interactions. As an introverted person by nature, my home space is sacred, so while friendly neighbor interactions are always the goal, ultimately, I’m going to protect the peace of my household.

This entitled mom in this next story only wanted to protect her own peace when she dumped her two young children on the neighbor next door. Unbeknownst to the neighbor, because she had no children of her own—and therefore «no responsibilities»—it was her duty to sit around and wait for her neighbor to run errands, babysitting her kids in the meantime for free. Leaning into your community for support is one thing, but taking advantage of the kindness of others only to guilt-trip them afterwards is a whole other level of entitlement.
