Could they have come up with a less appealing wedding?
Everyone wants their wedding to reflect who they are as a couple. After all, it’s the couple’s day, and their wants should be prioritized over the wants of their Great Aunt Beth, who would rather they got married in the church, or Grandma Jemima, who thinks the bridesmaid dresses are just ghastly.
At the same time, you have to consider your guests at least a little bit when planning your wedding. You don’t want to make your closest friends and family spend thousands of dollars just to attend your wedding. At the very least, you should provide food and drinks for your guests, even if that means having a cheap backyard wedding with Costco catering. You shouldn’t bristle when your friends with little kids can’t show up for the wedding when you make it childfree. You have to accept that if you choose to do a lot of unpopular things at your wedding, a lot of people just might not show up to it.
The couple in this story did many things that the groom’s siblings did not agree with. They had a child-free wedding, despite the groom having nieces and nephews. They made the menu vegan, which might be popular with some guests but not all. Worst of all, they decided to have a dry wedding, so not only are they not paying for drinks, but they aren’t even giving their guests the option to buy them. It doesn’t sound like a fun wedding to me.
