Happy Groundhog Day, everybody! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning, which means we’ve got six more weeks of winter ahead of us. Groundhog Day is one of my favorite silly holidays because you’d think it would have lost its cultural relevance by now. Punxsutawney Phil has been predicting the upcoming weather forecasts since the 1880s, and his celebrity has only grown since then. I also love that Groundhog Day allows us to participate in child-like whimsy. It bothers me when people think they’re special because they point out that the hog’s predictions are less than accurate.
