If you are born and raised Floridian then you get it. You’ve been through enough hurricanes to know that the best way to handles this kind of destructive weather is with humor. New Floridians and people who aren’t from Florida go straight to panic mode—the crowd up the markets to stoke up on food and water and spend way too much on buying out all of the generators. But real Floridians use this paid time off for some serious «me-time.» Though hurricanes should never be taken lightly, it’s just in human nature to deal with something scary with humor. It helps prepare you mentally for the turbulence ahead. So, of course, Floridians took to TikTok to add their on joke or two about hurricane Ian. From a streaker on the news weather report, to a Floridian using a tortilla to measure the wind speeds, these Florida locals prepared to Ian with as many laughs as they could get.
