‘I was kind of flabbergasted’: Entitled MIL criticizes man’s driving skills, even though he’s doing her a favor by driving her to every family holiday reunion

No one likes a backseat driver—that much is true.

We all have that one family member you can never appease; You might share DNA with them, or be bound to them by a marriage license. In every case, however, the entitlement remains the same. They think that you are supposed to do everything they ask you to do, and criticize the way you do those things, too. Favors are one thing, but expecting servitude is another. You know you’ve reached family status with an in-law once they start speaking their mind too freely…

The holidays are a reminder of entitled families, and we’re sure you know what we mean. The man who posted the story below explains that his mother-in-law now needs rides to holiday family events because she is getting older. He is more than happy to chauffeur her, but soon finds out that this might’ve been a grave mistake. Apparently, MIL works for the DMV.

His MIL questions the safety of his driving skills to other family members, despite the man driving as safely as possible, because his toddler rides with them. Now, he feels like not only is his driving being questioned, but his judgment on parenting, too. Scroll to read about how this unfolds.
