When a trailer is released for a fifth installment of a successful franchise, criticism is bound to follow, but is it safe to say that this time the criticism has… lost the plot?

After the first teaser for Shrek 5 was received poorly, and the initial release date was postponed from Christmas 2026 to Summer 2027, the official trailer was finally released. Even though it was rumored that the movie’s release was pushed back to give the crew a chance to rework the animation redesign, the response to the trailer was still full of criticism and complaints.
