Job-seeker goes through 4 interviews only to learn they were never a real candidate in the first place: ‘I was a prop in their internal politics’

The job-search process can be frustrating, even if you make it to the interview stage.

Looking for a job can seem like a straightforward process, but really, it’s not. It’s not as linear as applying for a job, hearing back, and then interviewing. Sometimes you actually have to know someone in the company to get the ball rolling. Or they’re planning on hiring internally and just need some extra candidates to pad out the search. This can be incredibly frustrating if you’re a worker simply trying to put yourself out there and find a job. You hope it will be simple, but it rarely ever is. The employee in this story learned that the hard way after putting in a major amount of effort for a job they thought they were a shoo-in for. But it turned out they were being led down a frustrating path, one that nobody should be put in.
