‘Me core’ when ‘me’ is everyone.

I like to laugh at relatable memes; they are the ones more lighthearted but also hilarious due to the fact they are similar to my way of behaving and acting as a person. I always end up thinking, «Wow, that is so me. It’s like they are looking at me». But actually, if we think about it, it’s just so like everyone. Everyone finds the memes relatable —or at least an enormous percentage of people do. So then, are we all just the same? Well, no, really, I do think that people are very different from one another, at least in some aspects. But there is something that we do have in common. Our lives are not that different from most of us; we are just normal working adults who like to hang out with friends and watch shows and movies. So there we will find probably like 90% of the population agreeing to that statement. So finding memes that we all like shouldn’t be that hard in general. After all, it’s a pretty basic thing to like. 

The problem comes when the «relatable memes» are talking about something that you thought was a unique experience, something that only happens to you. For example, hitting your little toe with the coffee table or always forgetting the list of food needed when you go to the supermarket. They are still very normal things, but it goes even deeper than that. Which takes me to my question: do we even have original experiences? Are we all just living the same life? I really hope not, but after all that has been relatable to everyone, I’m kind of doubting it. At least it makes us feel less alone in the world. We aren’t as unique and eccentric as we thought. There is someone on the other side of the world —or maybe next door— going through the same things. You cannot tell me that isn’t actually sweet. We are never fully alone; there is always someone who can relate to whatever crazy thing is happening to us.
