There’s something uniquely humbling about tolerating the stinky smells of a bathroom to avoid being in a situation any longer. I’m sure all of us have been in a position so dreadful that we must hide in the toilet for long periods to maintain our sanity. Conditions that might require this include, but are not limited to, high school math class, a family reunion that’s gone on long enough, and a horrible customer service job. 

If you haven’t hidden in the bathroom to cry during your job, I don’t think I can trust you. For many positions, formal and informal breaks are not allowed, so your only moment of privacy is sitting in those stall walls. When I worked at a chain Chinese food restaurant, I would speedrun scrolling through my Twitter feed on my porcelain throne before I had to go out and face the music.
