When you’re a certain kind of 15-year-old girl, a dress can be everything. When you’re coming into your age, your body, and your sense of self, clothes are naturally going to have a lot of emotional resonance. It’s when you’re beginning to figure out your style, and you’re trying things out to see if they feel like you. I remember getting so attached to a pair of skinny jeans when I was 15 that I wore holes in the knees because I wore them so often. So that said, a new dress, especially one for a fancy event like a wedding, is a precious thing. 

That’s what one young girl’s stepmom learned the hard way after she tried to mess with her dress. Of course, to a fully formed rational adult, it might not seem like a big transgression, but when you start thinking like a teen, you begin to see her strife.
