Recruiter rejects candidate because they want to make at least £25K per year: ‘It’s not something I can guarantee at this stage’

Ever since I was in college, I’ve gotten wild recruiter requests in my LinkedIn DMs. For some reason, the people at Volunteer For America and other low-paying teaching companies think that telling you they pay $15 an hour is a swanky deal for early 20-somethings trying to get their careers started. I don’t have the heart to message them back and tell them otherwise. If you didn’t already know, there are not a lot of great offers coming your way if a recruiter reaches out to you on a professional social network.

That said, I’m floating down the river of abundance here in the United States. People in the UK make way less money than we do in the States. A LinkedIn recruiter told one UK worker that they couldn’t guarantee that the job they’re recruiting for could pay at least £25K. For the Americans in the crowd, that’s only $31,723.87.
