There’s a certain teenage skill set where emotional turbulence gets scheduled like a dentist appointment, and it somehow lands on every day that matters to the parent. Not because the kid is a cartoon villain, but because big feelings love big stages. Holidays, birthdays, anything with a little meaning attached becomes the perfect place to test power, attention, and how much patience is left in the tank.

Now I know teenagers aren’t exactly famous for being a considerate, understanding, and respectful bunch. We’ve all been there and we all remember and we all understand being a hormone pressure cooker in the form of an almost-adult is not the best of experiences for many but I for one managed to make it through that phase without absolutely losing it on a first degree relative on their birthday, in a packed Starbucks so I think this teenager should take a deep breath and calm down.
