Have you always been in the Hogwarts House that you’re in today? I have a friend who thought she was a Gryffindor when she was a kid, like so many kids who want to be the cool protagonist. She’s waffled back and forth between Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor over the years, never fully feeling like she knew which one she was in her heart of hearts. In my professional opinion, I’d say she’s a Ravenclaw sun, Hufflepuff moon, and Gryffindor rising, without a lick of Slytherin in her. But not everyone is so uncommitted. I knew before I even took the Pottermore sorting quiz that I was a Hufflepuff through and through. Other people have been devastated by the results of that test, refusing to accept that they’re a Slytherin when they’ve always deeply identified with Ravenclaw. At the end of the day, it’s a silly, made-up classification system that isn’t actually gatekept in any meaningful way.
