‘The Memes Strike Back’: Star Wars memes for Rebels, Imperials and Force Users to Laugh all Across the Galaxy (July 21, 2026)

How many times have you pretended to be a Jedi using the Force while walking through automatic doors?

Way more than you can remember and would like to admit. When facing an automatic door, we all turn back to being twelve years old, playing the enigmatic Jedi. Their mind tricks would come in handy now, when it’s necessary to deal with entitled coworkers and crazy bosses.

For us younger people, Star Wars is a part of our childhood. The first three movies came out in the ’70s, and the second trilogy in the early 2000s, so we were getting into an already established fandom. In many cases, it was our parents who introduced the franchise to us, and it also became a moment of family bonding. Having a Star Wars marathon over and over again, sitting on the living room couch, is a memory that accompanies a great deal of us. All of this was before Netflix or Disney+ even existed, so we had a stack of DVDs lying around, waiting to be watched.

That is why we were so happy when the last trilogy was announced for the first time. Even though some claim that in the end they pretty much ruined what we loved about this world, it is also true that at least we had the chance to see Star Wars at the movie theater, an experience some of us had never had before.

Still, it was unfortunate to see how, after Disney took over the franchise, all of George Lucas’ plans were completely disregarded. Now they are trying to redeem themselves with shows like The Mandalorian and Maul: Shadow Lord, which have excellent reviews so far. While they’re both great, a part of us will always be a little disappointed about what happened to Luke and Leia’s legacy. At least the original comics and the video games still exist, so we have the chance to build our own canon with a well-deserved finale for the characters we love so much. And let’s not forget that we also have fantastic memes! After six movies and countless TV shows, we still have a lot more time to spend in this faraway galaxy.
