From my lofty position as a meme-collecting expert, I am of the opinion that the Lord of the Rings franchise has to be one of the most-memed of all time. Like, at this point I’m not sure a single frame from Peter Jackson’s opus has gone untouched for the purposes of goofy internet humor. 

It’s true, this is a fandom that takes itself seriously when it comes to not taking itself seriously. The world of Tolkien is so beloved that those who make it a part of their life that they feel the freedom to do that, and that is something special. We’ll keep rounding up the best of this until they stop doing it, and it doesn’t look like there is an end in sight yet. This longwinded fantasy tale about some jewelry simply has too much sticking power for the memers to give it up until all possibilities are exhausted.
