Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all. Hope you’re recovering from all the dips, wings, and other fried foods you probably consumed at the Super Bowl this week. As I pretended to watch the ol’ game and refreshed Twitter over and over for memes, my boyfriend made a comment about how football is a very militaristic sport. He likened it to a battlefield, something about lines, whatever. I don’t really get the whole nitty gritty of it, but I do appreciate a good battle scene. And what series does battle scenes quite as well as Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. 

Once I made the connection, the game became slightly more bearable. But likening anything to Lord of the Rings will have that effect on me. There is a pretty glaring difference between the two, however: Super Bowl memes get old fast, but Lord of the Rings memes do not. So here we are, just like every Tuesday, bringing you the best Lord of the Rings memes we saw this past week. While there are a few pop culture references, most of the memes are tried and true sh*tposts, the perfect distraction for anyone who is remotely interested in the best adaptations of Tolkien’s masterpieces.
