Until now, our favorite hot button theory about Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory has been that Grandpa Joe is the true villain of the film and the Roald Dahl book it’s based on. In the film, the impoverished Charlie ends up winning the f*cked up competition, thus inheriting Wonka’s fortune and position as the world’s most deranged and masochistic candy maker.
