Authenticity isn’t something that is valued on many social media platforms. These days, Facebook is probably the closest we come to a true, unbridled look at the personalities of people that we know (and strangers who go viral). 

There’s something about the touch of the Zuck that makes a certain proportion of the population bare all, and it isn’t always pretty. In fact, it almost always isn’t. At the same time, it can be entertaining when it’s not hugely worrying. 

Perhaps it was a mistake to give us all an avenue to express things with our identities full attached, but it doesn’t mean that we’re going to stop doing it. In fact, it can make certain individuals even more eager to put it all out there. This doesn’t always have that many positives, but it gives us something to spectate on. Isn’t that what the internet basically got made for?
