I hate when someone asks me about my «type.» I’ve noticed a pattern emerging with the people I have dated seriously, but I wouldn’t want to completely limit myself in future endeavors to the kinds of people I have dated previously! It feels weird to articulate your specific dating preferences. It might be true that you primarily date people with a specific hair color, of a certain race, or with a particular body type, but that makes it seem like you’re objectifying someone for their physical appearance. 

There’s a difference between incidentally dating several Asian women in your life and saying, «I only date Asian women because they’re submissive.» The latter is fetishizing a group for their race and attributing untrue characteristics to all members of that race. Having a type isn’t inherently nefarious, but seeing one demographic as specifically suited to fulfill your twisted fantasies is not a good look.
