Woman takes 3+ hours to prepare for solo beach day, sparks discussion about planning exhaustion as adults: ‘You gotta start getting ready 3 days before’

There is a lot of underrated labor that one must perform over the course of the day. We all know the basics: laundry, dishes, cleaning. But what about all the little tasks that go into making something happen? If you want to do a fun activity, there’s a lot of planning required.

Say, for instance, you’d like to go to the beach. That requires picking a day, clearing the schedule, packing a bag making extra sure you have everything, planning an outfit you can be wet in, bringing a change of clothes, bringing at least two towels, figuring out your source of shade, selecting the right snacks, and making sure they stay cold. It might not sound like a lot. And sure, all you really need is a towel and a spirit of adventure, but to make something happen comfortably and seamlessly requires more effort. Hence are the hidden sides of adulting– something this recent Twitter thread gave some good insight into.
