Young Mom Refuses to Hang Out With Her Childless Friends Without Her Baby, Gets Upset When She’s Excluded From Adult Events

A wise woman once said, «When you have a baby, you can’t be the baby,» and she was 100% correct. In your early twenties, it’s easy to party and be irresponsible with few consequences. That all changes when a living, breathing person comes along. Your priorities transform entirely overnight, and it can be hard to see drinking and carrying on with your friends as something you can still regularly do.

Many moms, especially if they’re the first moms in their friend group, can feel isolated from their childless friends. They can feel like their friends don’t make an effort to hang out with them and refuse to adjust to their newly hectic schedule. When you have a new baby, that’s all you want to talk about, and it’s upsetting when others seem disinterested. On the other hand, childless young adults have a right to want to hang out with their friends without a baby present, and that’s the source of conflict for this Redditor and her friend with a new baby.
