I’m jealous of Ryan Gosling’s Ken, purely because his job is «just beach». This much-memed quote from the Barbie movie sums up a lifestyle that a lot of people wish they could have. Unfortunately, that is going to remain a pipe dream for most of us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the unique charms of being by the ocean now and then. 

There are downsides to beach days, like temperamental weather, summer crowds, and getting sand in places we’d much prefer that we didn’t. Nonetheless, there’s something about a hint of sun with the sea breeze that is just too darn irresistible in the warmer months. 

Summer wouldn’t be summer without a trip to the beach, so naturally, we have to honor this occasion with a few memes. Northern Hemisphere dwellers, we only have a month or so left to make the most of this. Let’s do Ken proud.
