When was the last time that you felt angry?
Rage is often painted as a bad thing, primarily because it can be pretty destructive when it escapes containment. However, there is an argument to be made that expressing our anger is an important thing to do now and then. There is literally scientific evidence that suppressing our emotions, in particular the angry ones, can contribute to actual physical illness. By this measure, it would seem that it is better out than in.
Just like it can be refreshing to have a good cry now and then, having the space to vent can leave you feeling lighter. They say that a problem shared is a problem halved, and when something is wrong, it doesn’t always feel like you can share it politely. Most people aren’t perfectly zen, and they face all kinds of irritations when they go about their daily business. Finding the appropriate time to let out those frustrations should really be more common; then maybe we would have fewer arguments and altercations making the world a more difficult place.
The world of memes is pretty successful in showing us that anger is not a unique experience in the slightest. In fact, it confirms that almost everybody is annoyed, exasperated, or even ready to fly off the handle at many moments throughout their existence, and we shouldn’t be ashamed if we sometimes feel the same. Sure, anger management is important, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t find some humor in our frustrations, too.
