Have you ever seen something and had no idea how it got there?

Some things in life just can’t be explained, no matter how badly you want them to be. We have to live with the absurd, and that’s part of our inheritance as individuals on this Earth. We like things to fit into little boxes so that we can consume them in one bite. We’d like to know what things are, and where things are going. We find it very hard to live in the unknown. We want the ending of the movie explained, the vague post to be elaborated on, and context for everything. This isn’t a bad urge. We should fight against the lack of information when we can. But we should also do our best to sit with ambiguity. Some things are not easily explained away, and some things demand to be taken as they are and nothing else. A good way to practice this is by watching art house cinema. It will be full of images that don’t have immediate meaning, and moments that you don’t quite know how to swear with your reality. It is your job to just take those images and sounds as they are, and try to see what they bring up for you.
