We’ve sprung forward, which means we lost an hour of sleep and our weeks have been messed up ever since. We woke up with a headache which meant we reached for that second cup of coffee in the afternoon which meant we went to bed late which meant we were tired the next day and so on and so forth and scooby dooby doo-wah. That’s the thing about being an adult- it all hangs in the balance so delicately. If we’re thrown off of our routines in even the slightest way, our bodies will let us know the next day.
And what are kids if not routine thrower-offers? They love to throw a wrench in the day’s plans just by virtue of being who they are. Kids are unpredictable. You can’t anticipate when they’ll suddenly develop a nasty cold or need a dozen cupcakes for tomorrow’s bake sale.
