Mistakes can humble us in an instant. We might think we’re cruising along, totally faultless, but we would often be wrong. Maybe you’re arrogantly wondering why everyone seems to be avoiding the elevator. «The elevator is right there. Why isn’t anyone using it? People can be so stupid,» you think. Then, after the 4th press of the button, you realize that the elevator is out of order. You’ve been humbled by your mistake. Life has a way of doing that to us.
Mistakes can be a beautiful thing, too. There is a rule in improv: «There are no mistakes, only opportunities.» You can never say anything wrong as long as your scene partner can justify it. You’re never at fault; you’ve only created a new pathway for the scene to go. This is a rule that we should all internalize and try to apply to our own lives. These images, though, might be striking a different chord. These images are straight-up mistakes and should perhaps inflict shame on the creator. But we’re not here to shame, we’re here to laugh.
