I don’t know about you, but colleagues rank pretty high on my list of people whom I would rather not share a home with. It’s not that I don’t get along with them; it’s that there is a high risk of potential drama that comes from mixing the personal and professional in this most inescapable of ways. When things are tense in the workplace, the place where you live should be able to be a refuge from that, and vice versa. Having the two be completely separate saves a lot of stress.
It isn’t exactly common for coworkers to cohabitate, at least not with standard 9-to-5 office jobs. Still, sometimes circumstances lead colleagues to both live and work under the same roof. This is a situation that can test even the most rock-solid of relationships, so it is inevitable that the two-facedness that comes from the workplace can make things extra messy.
