Did you also dream about being a magical fairy when you were a kid? 

The idea of magical beings actually existing is a type of storyline I’ve always loved. Whether it be mermaids, unicorns, or fairies, pretending there’s an alternate world where they all live does wonders for my whimsical side. 

Winx Club had all of those and more. It started with this normal next-door girl who suddenly discovered she was actually a fire fairy with an ancestral, mysterious power within her. Epic way to start a show, and a great way to get the attention of a lot of preteen girls. We all felt we were Bloom at some point, and it made us feel like there was something special inside every normal girl that could make her extraordinary. Not bad for a show relying on glitter and pretty outfits. 

That’s another interesting detail. The glitter and the eye-catching outfits only made it better. Like any other show, Winx Club sometimes had heavy and scary storylines. All the girls had to face extraordinary dangers, where the stakes were really high, and they could lose everything while trying to save their world. They faced the most evil of villains and made the toughest choices, all the while looking fabulous. At first glance, those two things could very easily clash and look off. But obviously, the animation team did a fantastic job making everything look seamless. A little impractical to wear high heels and sequins when you’re trying to lay low and escape from the evil lair, but who needs practicality when you have magic and fairy dust? 

Oh, to be a fairy with the power to control light, water, air… Definitely would make our lives easier, especially when the power runs out, and the A.C turns off… A gust of fresh wind would most certainly feel amazing. But, since we live in the real world (unfortunately), the best we can do is enjoy the memories, dreams, and memes this amazing childhood show left for us.
