Sometimes when things fail, it feels out of our control. That can be hard if you’re like me and a bit of a control freak. You know this if you’ve ever watched somebody else cook. You realize your instinct to backseat drive wants to override your sense of goodwill and politeness so much. But you …

Childless millennial receives pumpkin at baby shower, recoils at adding the decoration to her minimalist apartment: ‘Looks like witness protection’
Much like the clothes that we choose to wear, the choices we make with interior design can say a lot about our tastes, personalities, and lifestyles. It follows, then, that the ways in which people choose to decorate their homes are something that others can get pretty judgmental about. After all, a home should be …

It’s the little things in life that add up to the big things. You may not think that a difficult-to-open jar of peanut butter could change your life, but it can. Sometimes you just need the straw that breaks the camel’s back. And that straw can be a piece of bad design. You know exactly …

Sometimes seeing is not believing. Sometimes it takes a little bit more convincing, especially these days. I mean back in the early days it was easier to believe things that you saw, especially online. But the minute that there have been humans, there has been deception and trickery. We’ve been all trying to prank each …

Mistakes can humble us in an instant. We might think we’re cruising along, totally faultless, but we would often be wrong. Maybe you’re arrogantly wondering why everyone seems to be avoiding the elevator. «The elevator is right there. Why isn’t anyone using it? People can be so stupid,» you think. Then, after the 4th press …

27-year-old moves into first solo apartment, stepmom flips out when he refuses to accept her decorating tips: ‘She told me if I ever want to find a woman, I need to let her redecorate’
Living alone should be a peaceful experience, but that is not always the case. Supposedly, one of the biggest perks of being the only person at home is that it comes with a freedom that you just don’t have otherwise. When a place is all yours, you can choose exactly how you want to live …

Sometimes failure is inevitable. Sometimes we can’t help but fall flat on our faces, no matter how hard we try. This is life’s way of humbling us. Think about what we would be like if we never failed. We would all be arrogant, entitled freaks, walking around, thinking that we’ve done nothing wrong. We wouldn’t …

We don’t always get to decide when we fail. We just have to live through it. Say, for instance, it’s your first day at a new job. You worked unbelievably hard to get here, and you feel like you’re punching above your weight. You buy a new blazer just for the occasion. You couldn’t sleep …

The world is full of tiny absurdities. Sometimes you’ll just see something that doesn’t make any sense. You can’t square it with your version of reality. Maybe it’s a type of store that you can’t understand why anyone would have a need for. Maybe it’s a type of person that you’ve never met before and …

To err is to be human. What are we, clankers? That’s a word I recently learned that is apparently used to denigrate robots. But robots, by design, don’t make mistakes. They can only be programmed wrong. Flaws? Things going south? That’s all us, baby. In this era of encroaching robot rule, it’s important to hold …
