Being a childfree individual doesn’t always mean leading a childfree life, even if some of the intentionally childless might prefer to have it that way. The birth rates may be dropping in many places, but there are still plenty of people who aspire to have families, and unless everyone without kids lives under a rock, it is likely that they are going to come into contact with that now and then.
One of the most common reasons for childfree people to find themselves around kids is via their family members. Whether they have much younger siblings or their siblings themselves have families, it’s inevitable that they will do the occasional babysitting stint or social visit now and then.
As with any other relationship, it is important to have boundaries with this, and it is true that parents can sometimes see childfree status as a reason to take advantage. However, there is also a fine line between sticking up for yourself and being unreasonable.
