You strike a sensitive chord when you critique someone’s parenting style. Out of all the parents in the world, they now see themselves as one of the worst of them because someone felt comfortable enough to say something about how they raise their children. Typically, if the child is not in danger and they are well taken care of, on top of the fact that they are well-behaved, why would anyone feel the need to give their two cents?

On the one hand, it is our human nature to share our opinions, even if nobody around us wants to hear. We grow up in a world where everyone carries a certain level of self-involvement, and that’s okay. However, it’s crucial that we as humans understand when and when not to say something… especially if our family members are allowing us to slum it in their home while we’re trying to figure out next steps in life.
