About a year ago I found myself in a funny position. A friend of mine told me about a very enticing job opening at the cryptocompany she worked for. This was around when NFTs were starting to blow up. The job was basically to be a representative for NFT artists who dropped NFTs on their platform. The pay? Six figures. The people? I could have cared less. The only catch was that I’d have to do some serious research on these «non-fungible tokens.» So I did. And…I wasn’t impressed. And eventually, I realized I couldn’t lie my way into this one. I simply cannot pretend to care or believe in NFTs. And while crypto is a little less dumb or sketchy in my eyes, there are aspects of that world that definitely deserve their fair share of eyerolls. The interview went predictably bad, and while I may not be making 120k, or getting that sweet company equity, at least I can live with myself. While NFTs and crypto obviously have their followers, they probably have even more haters. And these memes? These memes are for them.
