A lot of us greatly underestimate our ability to brighten someone’s day, but we are all capable of it if we really try. A small compliment or kind gesture can be just what another person needs, and it is also good karma if you are the kind to believe that you get back the energy that you give out. It isn’t hard to make a positive impact.

You know who doesn’t like it when we try to make a difference through regular, small acts of humanity towards our fellow people? Why, big, bad corporations, of course. That would stop them making so much money from us, and that is a situation that simply won’t do. They are entitled to not only our every last dollar, but also our loyalty to the cause of mindless consumerism.

While anybody who participates in mainstream society has to contribute to this to some extent, that doesn’t mean that they have to let it get the better of them. It is still possible to rebel against what we are told is the right way to do things, even if that happens in fairly insignificant ways within the system.
