Jarvis, bring me 27 memes. Thanks, Jarvis.
In a world where you can summon up anything at the click of a button, choose to summon up something good. As Bo Burnham said in his seminal song «Welcome to the Internet,» «We’ve got mountains of content, some better, some worse. If none of it’s of interest to you, you’d be the first.» It’s a vast place out there, and a lot of it is not worth our time. There is plenty of horror to be found, or at the very least slop. When was the last time you scrolled through social media and liked everything you found? Probably never. Because as much as the internet is good at bringing us stuff we want to see, it’s just as good at bringing us stuff that upsets us. And we don’t want to be upset. We came here for a good time, and we’re tired of not getting it!
But the good news is that we are in charge of our own content consumption. We can choose to consume things that make us happy and don’t raise our heart rate. We can leave the heart rate-raising to fun activities like skydiving, playing Dress to Impress, and trying to assemble an outfit with 20 seconds left on the clock. We can make the internet fun again, I swear. Memes are going to be a huge part of that. Let’s get back to the time when browsing the web was fun and not scary.
