Those days at work before any big holiday often have a weird kind of cognitive dissonance to them. There is usually a lot to do so that you do not get overwhelmed with everything when the party’s over, but your brain is already shifting into vacation mode and requires double the motivation to do anything useful at all. Long story short, it’s a slog.
While there is never a bad time on the job to look at work memes (or so we would like to think), it is these pre-holiday periods where they can prove particularly necessary. They might not make us more productive, but they remind us that this work day is only one in a million other work days, and if we can get through those, we can make it to the end of this one. Deep breath, employees, the blessed escapism of the food coma is just around the corner.
