Sometimes you see something that you just can’t explain.

Have you ever played the game GeoGuesser? If you haven’t, let me explain it to you right now. You get dropped off in the middle of a random location, and you are in the world, and you see it from street view on Google Earth. You could be on a dirt road in Timbuktu, or you could be on Madison Avenue in New York City. Your job is to figure out exactly where you are on the map. The closer you drop your pin to your location, the more points you get. Playing this game makes you realize just how vast the world is. There are places that you will never go to, millions of streets you will never cross, and millions of signs you will never know how to interpret. The world is a huge place full of untold secrets. 

But you play that game long enough, and you realize just how connected we are. We all follow similar traffic laws. We all have similar kinds of storefronts and homes, and we all use cars to get around. It’s a wonderful way to look at humanity. You get to see all the differences, which have a way of revealing the similarities. This is also what the design fails of the week does for us. They make us realize that since the world is a vast place, there must be a lot of room for error. A lot can go wrong when humans are in charge.
