Stepdad scolds his 26-year-old stepdaughter for not reminding him of his wife’s birthday: ‘He said we should have warned him since we know how much time he spends at work and that things can slip his mind.’

One of my unpopular opinions is that everyone needs to be better at remembering each other’s birthdays. I can tell you the birthdays of at least 20 of my friends and family members, down to date and year, because I really care about them and how old they are. Time and dates are so fascinating to me, and while I don’t expect everyone else to be as obsessed with them as I am, I think that you should at least know your immediate family, partner, and best friends’ birthdays off the top of your head.

If you’re not a date buff, there are ways you can trick yourself into remembering birthdays. You can write down all the important birthdays in your life from January to December in order, and plan accordingly. You can put a notification on your phone to remind you of people’s birthdays in advance. It’s really that simple!
