‘This is dystopian’: Teacher gets reprimanded for ‘liking’ Snow Day social media announcement, gets accused of being excited to not work

There are some employers you just can’t win with. It’s not enough to do your job enthusiastically when you’re there, you also have to perform total devotion to the art and science of working hard 24/7. When you’re a teacher, I find that to be especially true. It’s difficult to have any sort of public social media without parents, students, or administrators analyzing it and waiting for you to make a mistake. When I was in high school, me and my friends were experts at finding our teacher’s social media accounts. Luckily, we just shared them among ourselves instead of tattling on teachers for any indiscretions they made online, but in hindsight, it might not have been the most respectful thing to do. One teacher found her social media behavior being criticized after she liked a post made by the school district. The reason? She was allegedly promoting snow days too enthusiastically.
