Does dressing up at work mean a bigger workload?

You’ve all heard the advice, «dress for the job you want, not the job you have.» And there is some truth to this. It doesn’t hurt to put some extra thought into your appearance when you’re on the job. You want to project the idea that you’re a responsible person who knows how to groom and present yourself, and therefore might be depended on to do the job at hand. This might be an unfair leap to make, but humans are simple creatures at the end of the day. Our appearance is the first impression we make, so it bears looking into when we deem it important. But does that apply to months and years down the road, after you’ve already gotten the job and presumably gained the trust of your managers and coworkers? Is it possible to be overdressed for the job?
