Is this a Grey’s Anatomy season? Is the house gonna explode?

Parenting is the biggest adventure, no doubt. Every single day feels like a new episode of the most intense, dramatic TV show ever made, where anything could happen. All is calm and manageable one second, and the next you’re running around trying to find some lost shoe your toddler decided to hide minutes before leaving the house. If there is something to say about parenting, it’s that there is never a dull moment. 

Kids are energy machines, while you barely make it through the day. You won’t even be able to open your eyes properly before they start jumping, screaming, and dancing to made-up music at Saturday sunrise. As a young adult, you promised yourself you would never wake up at the break of dawn on the weekend, and to always save a self-care moment for yourself on Sundays. Well, that’s long out the window. When was the last time you got a face mask? Or the last time you woke up when the sun was already out? Or even the last time you got to spend your day cuddled in bed, watching your comfort show, with no other responsibilities. Don’t answer; we can see the bags under your eyes. Now, the responsibilities have names and dirty hands (probably). 

Toddlers are an experience. And teenagers tend to be a horror show. Just when you think everyone’s gonna be more independent and helpful, they become angry and moody. Also, they join every single after-class activity that fits their schedule, and you basically become a VIP Uber. Suddenly, mud pies and paint on the wall don’t seem too bad. As we said, every single day is an adventure. Yes, it is incredibly hard and unpredictable, but adventures can also be very fun. Yes, your kids will wake you up at the break of dawn because they are bored, but they might also invite you into their freshly built blanket fort. Teenagers might talk back and slam doors, but they will also steal your makeup. You will be angry at first, and then, when you see them wearing it all wrong, a little part of your heart will melt. Basically, parenting is absolute chaos and we…love it. 

Now, the weekend is coming, and even though it should be a time to rest and recover, we are not kidding ourselves anymore. We know that’s a stretch, and weekends are more like the last couple of episodes of the season, where everything is super intense, and the plot ends in a cliffhanger.
