Today is the last day of Disney’s 100th anniversary. This year has had some high highs but some equally low lows for the Disney brand. I, for one, was sad to see that Wish, the crowd jewel release of Disney’s 100th anniversary canonizing the titular star in When You Wish Upon a Star, didn’t find much success at the box office or in the reviews, for that matter. Pixar and Disney live-action remakes still seem to be the top dogs, with Elemental and The Little Mermaid bringing home the bacon as financial and critical successes. While it’s fun to reflect on this year, I’m looking to the future! I don’t know about y’all, but I’m excited to see what the 101st year of Disney holds because tomorrow, Steamboat Willie is going right into the public domain, and I can’t wait to see what you freaks do with him.
